Based on a Customised Model of the European Commission’s GreenComp Framework
Society often speaks about the need to protect future generations and build a better tomorrow. Yet the truth is that the future depends on how we act today, with the generations who are already here. That belief inspired the creation of Eduquem+B, a project that seeks to prepare young people not only for the future, but for the present, hence the name of its central pedagogical tool: Be Ready for Now.
Eduquem+B is an initiative of Barcelona+B, with the academic support of EADA Business School, designed to strengthen sustainability competences among young people in Barcelona. It builds on the European Commission’s GreenComp Framework and provides teachers with practical resources and guidance to integrate sustainability into their curricula, a growing priority in schools, particularly since the introduction of the new mandatory subject Sustainability in the Productive System in vocational training programmes in 2024.
For Barcelona+B and its partners, the Fundación B Lab Spain, Ferrer and EADA, this project also reflects a deeper purpose: contributing to an economic system that is fairer, more sustainable and regenerative. We believe that the narratives and tools shaping this transformation should come from actors committed to positive impact and collective progress, helping educators inspire a generation ready to act.
Between 2024 and 2025, more than 2,000 students and over twenty educational centres took part in the first city-wide screening, offering an unprecedented view of how young people in Barcelona know, think and act on sustainability.
