EADA establishes ties with universities in Nigeria

11 April 2014

From March 24th – 27th, EADA gave a training programme for upper administrative posts from different Nigerian public university centres, which in Nigeria are known as Federal Colleges of Higher Education and which cater to students aged 18 to 22. More specifically, EADA received a group of five people from Zuba FCT College of Education (in Abuja), the Federal College of Education of  Oyo state, the Potiskum Federal College of Education in Yobe state, and University of Maiduguri, in the state of Borno

Exchange of knowledge

The EADA programme was entitled Effective School and Administration in Higher Institutes of Learning. With the aim of improving the management of their institutions, implementing new training strategies and also of becoming more competitive on an international level, this training addressed very different aspects such as the university management model in Europe, national and international quality processes, knowledge management in international training centres, financing and the search for public and private funding as well as documentation and online resources.

The challenge was to transmit and share with them the knowledge that will enable them to improve their internal processes, their training and their international positioning” explained the programme coordinator, Paula Bosworth, who is International Programmes Manager at EADA. Bosworth considered that this experience was very positive “above all because of the cultural exchange. We have learnt a lot about their traditions and their culture and they have discovered our cuisine, and got to see what daily life is like in a large city like Barcelona. They also had the opportunity to visit various companies and get a firsthand experience of their internal processes.

Sustainable training

The programme is the result of a commitment undertaken by EADA in 2009 with the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) as part of the Global Compact of the United Nations. Since then EADA has collaborated along with the world’s top business schools on this project with the aim of promoting the concept of responsibility throughout the business world, and primarily, in the training of the management class. The aim is to further sustainable education for managers in order to achieve, among other challenges, growth linked to social impact and the immediate environment, research that leads to more innovation and helps to recognise the benefits of a responsible business plus constant collaboration so that different institutions can share knowledge and create synergies.
