7 July 2011

37 participants on the 2010-2011 EMBA spent their International Week in Shanghai, accompanied by Carmen Lobato and Marjolein Overmars. The academic programme was given at the prestigious School of Management Fudan University. They attended classes on subjects such as Foreign investments in China, Privatization, The Chinese Currency, Consumer behaviour in China, The China Luxury goods market, China in the global economy.  They also visited flagship companies such as Kodak, Nokia Siemens Networks, Hotel Sol Melià and Mettler Toledo, in addition to the Chinese investment firm, Fosun. At Nokia Siemens and Sol Melià they were received by the managers, both of whom are Spanish, who gave them first hand insights into “Doing Business in China”.  Despite a very tight programme, there was some free time for cultural sightseeing and...for shopping.

The group of 30 participants who travelled to Saint Petersburg (Graduate School of Management St. Petersburg State University - GSOM) together with Ariadna Moix had a chance to visit the companies Philip Morris, Nokian Tyres and X5 Retail Group as part of the programme "Doing Business in Russia". Throughout the week the group attended various academic sessions, the most prominent of which were "Cross Cultural Management", "Business Ethics" and "Russian Economy: Challenges we face".
