The EADA Board of Trustees incorporates two entrepreneurs with wide expertise in internationalising companies

18 December 2015

The EADA Board of Trustees, the business school’s top governing body is being enlarged with the incorporation of two new members. One of them, Marc Bonavia, PharmD and founder of SITmobile, a company that operates in the messaging and mobile internet sector, which over its fifteen years of existence has become a leader in the corporate messaging and marketing market. Motivated by entrepreneurship, Mr Bonavia left the pharmaceutical sector to seek adventure in various corporate projects, whose common denominator has always been that of contributing added value with cutting edge technology solutions.

In actual fact, SITmobile started out in 2000 as an online aggregator site which captured traffic by offering its users free sms. One year later the market took a turn and users now had to pay for sms. “So we considered that what had been an unsuccessful business could be turned into a big opportunity, in other words, we could offer corporate information via the sms”.

Last year SITmobile became a part of the Australian group Soprano Design, a global software company specialised in corporate mobile messaging. “I have lived through all the company’s phases, beginning from starting out from scratch from a room at home right up to accomplishing a great deal of international renown and leadering the market” Mr. Bonavia explains. And so, he goes on to add “I can contribute this expertise to the EADA Board of Trustees, which is very interested in promoting entrepreneurship on all the training programmes”.

In addition to this, Marc is president of the AIJEC (Catalonia Independent Association of Young Entrepreneurs) and was awarded the ‘Premio Príncipe de Girona Impulsa Empresa 2011’ for setting an example of entrepreneurial initiative.

The other new board member is Oriol Ros. He holds a degree in Medicine and an EADA MBA and has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector. Almirall, Merck Group, Novartis, Aventis and Innopharma are just some of the prestigious pharmaceutical laboratories where Mr Ros has held posts of responsibility. What’s more, in 2003 he cofounded Salutis Research, a services company for the pharmaceutical industry that within the space of a few years grew to become one of the most important in Spain. Mr Ros currently works as a medical consultant for biopharmaceutical companies.

As far as he sees it, to the EADA Board of Trustees he can contribute his knowledge of an innovative, technified and specialised biopharmaceutical sector in addition to his entrepreneurial expertise.  As regards the first aspect, Mr Ros explains that “the pharmaceutical sector, because of the very changeable environment, is constantly reinventing itself”. He adds that “improvement processes are so quick that they are not always implemented as well as they could be”.

Concerning his expertise as an entrepreneur, Mr Ros has not only launched a company of his own but has also developed the business plan for important pharmaceutical labs, “which have gone from operating on a local level to operating internationally, becoming big multinationals”, he points out..
