15 July 2010

Barcelona, May 11th, 2010.

Innovating in innovation. The center is directed by Franc Ponti, one of the leading national authorities on innovation and creativity.

With a view to providing academic tools for managing corporate innovation, the EADA Innovation Center (EIC), was presented today during an event held in Barcelona, which was attended by well known specialists in corporate innovation.

The EIC is directed by Franc Ponti, an EADA professor and one of the key specialists on a national level in innovation management. Mr. Ponti pointed out that the center’s objective "is to generate pedagogical contents that will help companies develop programmes and activities directed at innovation (products, business models, etc)".

According to professor Ponti, this constitutes the first step towards turning innovation into a discipline in business management studies, in the same way as Marketing and People Management, although he considers that innovation should not be a static department but a philosophy that permeates the entire company. “We mustn"t think of innovation as just innovation technology; the innovative process must also be applied to business, company and relations models” Mr. Ponti stressed during his presentation.

One of the EIC’s main initiatives will be to set up an Innovation classroom on the EADA Collbató campus. This classroom will be specially thought out and equipped for training in creativity and innovation; it will be one of the first of its kind in Spain. The center also plans to publish a series of research studies on innovation, the first of which will deal with innovation in Catalan SMBs.
