Management FoundationsStrategic ManagementTo understand how a company works and how it makes decisions we must address the most basic questions in management: What does management mean? What does a manager do? How does the decision-making process work in a company? Professional DevelopmentSkills are developed to coordinate and to manage people in an organization and to participate in a work team. This part of the module will be carried out at the Residential Training Centre in Collbató. International WeeksFor three weeks, participants have the opportunity to choose two optional subjects. In order to offer them another perspective, EADA has invited visiting faculty from partner schools and managers with outstanding experience. SpecialisationFinancial AccountingStarting out from the basic concepts of accountancy, applications of international standards are studied, establishing the effects on financial statements, the balance sheet and the profit and loss account. Financial Statement AnalysisParticipants acquire the ability to draw up diagnoses and recommendations on the basis of analysis of the annual accounts. Factors such as profitability, indebtedness and liquidity are studied in depth in order to back up the recommendations made. Cost Accounting and BudgetsThe need for information when making decisions presents a need for analytical information which is necessary with regard to cost structure and behaviour. Each of the executives forming part of a company is responsible for contributing to the achievement of business objectives, to which end executives have to act and take decisions. This subject presents the elements which go towards making up a control system based on drawing up a budget and control of budgetary deviations. This process usually includes the drawing up of the provisional profit and loss account, the cash-flow budget and the provisional balance sheet, as well as the budgets from the various responsibility centres. The aim is thereby to orientate and coordinate the decision-taking process in companies and to evaluate and correct their work where advisable. Investment AnalysisIn order to appraise the viability of investments and take decisions about whether or not they are appropriate, account is taken of risk, financing and sensitivity. Working Capital and Short-term FinancingThe analysis of investment in the different elements of working capital and choosing the optimal facilities to cover short-term financing needs is the basis of this solid day-to-day financial management class. Corporate FinanceThis class deals with strategic alliances, mergers, acquisitions, company assessments, LBO and MBO. Strategic Planning and TradeParticipants learn to analyse the global financing needs of the company and combine different sources of funding to ensure the continuity of the company in the short, medium and long term. International Finance and TradeParticipants gain an understanding of international financing instruments (interbank financing, FX mechanism, etc.) as well as the principal characteristics of international trade and investment activities. Financial Products and MarketsThis class provides knowledge of the financial markets and the products negotiated in them - fixed-interest, securities and derivatives. Analysis of the investment and cover strategies best-suited to companies' investment or financial needs. Management ControlEvery organisation must have mechanisms to relate strategic plans developed by senior management with short term activities carried out by the company's operating levels. Control management meets this need by applying procedures oriented towards giving coherence to the organisation's objectives, those individuals who make it and motivating those in charge so that their decision-making is coherent to the company strategy. ConferencesExperts on specific areas of financial management will be giving conferences throughout the course to supplement the syllabus. Strategies of Financial InstitutionsA company's financial management needs financial institutions in order to undertake investment projects. Knowledge about the financial system and about the institutions involved and their different strategies is an essential tool for optimum financing. Operating in MarketsBy operating in markets, companies are able to optimise the performance of their cash surpluses and cover exchange rate and interest rate risks. Final ProjectThe final project aims at ensuring that participants learn to apply the results of their academic study to real-life management problems and solutions. |
